  • Depending on your choice of insurer and policy, they may offer Choice of Repairer. Not all will though.

    Most will direct you towards their choice of partner repairers, not yours. We suggest doing your research when choosing your policy and when selecting a repairer. Find one that will work for you.

  • We get asked this one a lot! The answer isn’t simple though as each person has different requirements when it comes to insurance and every policy has a purpose. Price is less important than inclusions. What we do recommend is to make a list of what is important to you - these are our top 3 considerations:

    • Choice of repairer - some policys give you a discount to waive your right to choose your preferred repairer. Do you know who their partner repairers are? Do you know what reputation they have for their quality of work?

    • Hire Car - do you have access to a hire car in the policy? Is it for a limited period or for the full repair period? Can you afford to be without a car if you have to wait months for parts and you only have 14 days hire car included?

    • Windscreen Option - Do you have access to a free windscreen replacement each year? This is especially relevant if you have a newer car with sensors in the screen that require calibration.

  • In most cases it should only take 20 minutes tops for our team to collect the relevant information about you and your vehicle and for our estimators to inspect your damage.

    We then let you go on your way while we prepare the estimate. In this time we are gathering details from parts suppliers, mechanics, dealerships and other sublets and we check availability of parts to determine if we can replace or repair. We aim for a 48hr turn around on all estimates although complexity of repair can extend this.

    The estimate is then forwarded directly to your insurer for assessment.

    Once submitted, your insurer can take anywhere from 3-14days to respond to us with an authorisation or adjustments to our estimate and at times they may request us to perform a more in depth analysis of the damages. After this process is complete we can then provide you a book in date for the repairs.

  • When carried out and cared for per our recommendation, all labour and paintwork by McClure Refinishing has a warranty as per the manufacturer.

    Warranty on parts used for repairs can vary depending on the supplier and the part.

  • For private repairs and paint, if you’re unable to bring your vehicle to us, photos can assist us providing a very rough estimate but there is no substitute for our trained estimators inspecting the vehicle in person. and we will not provide a detailed estimate without seeing the vehicle.
    This is because without seeing the current state it is hard for us to gauge the severity of panel damage, the condition of the paint and if there are any issues with moving parts. We are able to arrange quoting at your home or business - fee’s for this service do apply.

    For insurance repairs we must see the vehicle to provide an estimate to your insurer.

  • The length of repairs is determined by a few factors;

    • the extent of the damage

    • the complexity of the repair

    • availability of sublet companies (mechanics, dealers, glass fitters, tyres etc)

    • unexpected factors like weather delaying shipping, staff sickness, equipment breakdowns

    Whilst we always do our best to provide you with a length of time the vehicle will be required, once we start dismantling we may discover further damage which requires additional labour and/or parts which can then extend your repair time. We acknowledge this can be inconvenient, but we will not compromise on safety & quality to rush a deadline. This is one reason we always recommend considering the hire car terms when choosing your insurance policy.

  • We always prefer to fit genuine OEM parts and this is reflected in our estimates. Your insurer may request otherwise and can push for parallel or reconditioned in some cases; if this is important to you be sure to thoroughly check your policy prior to purchasing.

  • Our professional technicians will return your vehicle to you in its pre-repair state. Our focus is on a dust free interior, limited paint fumes and washed exterior. If your vehicle is delivered to us heavily soiled or filled with personal items this may inhibit our ability to provide this complimentary service.

    If you would like a professional detail please let us know during the estimating process or when delivering the vehicle and we can assist in arranging this at an additional cost.

  • Estimates are based on a visual inspection only. Once the repair has commenced it is possible to uncover hidden or unforeseen damage. If this is the case and you are paying for your repairs privately we will always confirm with you prior to proceeding with any additional works.

    If repairs are via an insurance claim we will deal directly with your insurer to include the additional repairs when they relate to your claim.
